Mouth or oral cancer can develop on or in any part of the mouth. It happens when cells in or around your mouth mutate. This can grow into a tumor and spread to other parts of the face and head. The cancer can be found on:
- Lips
- Gums
- Tongue
- Inner lining of cheeks
- Roof or floor of the mouth
Mouth cancer can be caused by a multitude of things. The signs and symptoms can include:
- unhealing sores
- bleeding sores
- a growth, lump, or thickening of skin
- jaw pain or stiffness
- sore throat
- loose teeth
If you feel like you have any persistent signs or symptoms you should visit your doctor or dentist. If symptoms go on past 2 weeks, then you should make an emergency appointment.
